Permanent hair removal is based on eliminating the hair at its root, by destroying the hair follicle. At our clinic, we use flash lamp phototherapy, a new, elegant and modern response to hair problems.
The flash lamp emits a very powerful flash of light, concentrated on a small area of the skin. The dark pigment in the hair (melanin) absorbs this light energy and transforms it into heat. The heat produced will remove hair by destroying the follicles. This technique delivers deep, powerful thermo-coagulation. This coagulation of the hair root results in permanent (or very long-lasting) hair removal from the treated area. Destroyed hairs do not grow back. The surrounding skin, which is lighter, absorbs less heat and remains unharmed.
All hairs have the same growth cycle, but they grow independently. Not all hairs grow at the same time, and in reality you only see part of your hair. The other part is in a resting phase that can last up to several months.
Photopilar treatment is therefore only effective on visible hairs that are in the growth phase. To use up all the hair in an area, you need to treat it several times over a period of about a year (or even more), until all the hair in the area has been treated.
Since the dawn of time, women have been using every trick in the book to get rid of unsightly facial hair. Men, on the other hand, were quick to realize the benefits of getting rid of facial hair to look younger and more attractive. Photo-Epilation is a technique for permanently removing hair from various areas of the body for men (back, torso, beard, etc.) and women (legs, bikini line, armpits, etc.).
This treatment is ideal for large areas, offering everyday comfort for people suffering from unsightly hair.
Before any hair removal, the technician will see you during an initial consultation to learn about your history and eliminate any contraindications that might prevent you from having this procedure. It's also an opportunity to examine your skin and body hair, and to determine your phototype (light, dark or matte skin, etc.).
Before the session, the technician examines your skin for any lesions or herpes that could postpone the procedure. If the area to be depilated has not been shaved beforehand, she shaves and cleans it herself.
Before starting, the technician masks moles and tattoos with white only. She configures her machine according to your phototype and the size of hair to be treated. She then provides you with protective eyewear and puts on her own goggles.
On a small area, the technician applies the cold transparent gel. If the skin is black or dark, she cools a small area at a time with an ice cube before applying the gel. Then she positions the optical conduit over the gel on the area to be treated and triggers the flash by pressing the push-button. She continues by moving the conduit over the area to be treated, respecting a 2 mm overlap between 2 flashes.
At the end of the session, the technician cleans the area and applies a moisturizing cream to the depilated area to soothe the skin and reduce pain.
After each photopilar treatment, regrowth is slower and slower, and the remaining hair becomes finer and finer. To disappear completely, the hair must reach its root, i.e. the bulb. That's why hair can only be removed if it's in its growing phase, as this is the only time when there is contact between the bulb and the hair follicle.
As all hairs do not grow at the same time, and their life cycle differs from one area to another, several sessions are needed at suitable frequencies for each area to achieve maximum effectiveness.
The latest hair treatment method, it now offers all the quality and safety advantages needed to become a must-have. It is effective, faster and more economical.
All phototypes can be treated. This treatment does not burn any part of the skin.
BEFORE: Waxing, tweezing and bleaching must be stopped at least 1 month before the session.
The area to be depilated must be shaved by the patient 1 day before the session, otherwise it will be shaved by the technician
No self-tanning or tanning activator for at least 1 week.
No tanning or UV for at least 4 weeks.
DURING: During treatment, the impact of the flash of light on the skin may be unpleasant, depending on the areas treated and on the individual. They are similar to that of a light elastic band on the skin.
AFTER: You can resume your activities as soon as the treatment is over. If you feel a tingling sensation after the treatment, we recommend that you apply a repair cream.
Do not expose the area to sunlight or UV rays for 1 week, or protect it with a sunblock.
You can shave between two sessions.
FOLLOW-UP: Immediately after the treatment, the skin may be reddened, or even slightly irritated, with a sensation of heat.
These reactions are normal and will disappear after a few hours. Hair treated during a session will fall out on its own after 1 to 3 weeks.
On pigmented areas, a slight whitening of healthy skin and a slight browning of spots may be observed. This browning will intensify over several hours, forming small scabs. These crusts will eventually blacken and disappear within 10 to 15 days.
In the 2 weeks following a session, the natural "ejection" of hair from the treated area can be noted. Note that no hair will grow back on the depilated area between 2 and 4 weeks after the session.
After 6 sessions, around 90% of hair will not grow back. An annual maintenance session is then recommended to eliminate minor regrowth.
Results can only be obtained if the protocol and the time between sessions are respected.
